Briggs & Stratton brand Ferris recently introduced the IS 6200 zero-turn mower and the FW45 walk-behind mower, with availability for spring 2021. The IS 6200 features a 48-horsepower (36-kilowatt) Caterpillar turbo diesel engine and a 72-inch (183-centimeter) standard cutting deck. Other new features of the IS 6200 include a standard rollover protection system (ROPS), a suspension seat, a 3-inch color touchscreen display, a foot-activated hydraulic deck lift, and two Hydro-Gear pumps.
Long Live The King
Ferris says the IS 6200 is its largest, most powerful zero-turn mower to date by dint of its engine and dimensions. The former series-topper is the ISX 3300 ETC, which has a 40-hp (30-kW) Vanguard engine, a cutting width of 71 in. (180 cm) and an adjustable cutting height from 1.5 to 5 in. (3.8 and 12.7 cm). By contrast, one of the smallest mowers in the range, the F60Z, has a 25-hp (19-kW) Briggs & Stratton engine, a cutting width of 36 in. (91 cm), and a cutting height ranging from 1.5 in. and 4.5 in (11.4 cm).
Ferris FW45 Walk-Behind Mower
The other newly announced mower, the FW45 walk-behind, replaces the existing FW35 and features Hydro-Gear ZT-3400 transaxles that are larger and make it more maneuverable than the model it replaces. It also comes standard with oil coolers and features a transmission and spindle that are easier to service. Ferris adds that the FW45 is available with “one-wheel or two-wheel sulky options for enhanced productivity.”
