Description
1985 GMC 7000 Service Truck – R.O. PJ-200 Crane – Diesel – Service Body
Description
Up for auction is a 1985 GMC 7000 medium-duty service truck equipped with an R.O. PJ-200 boom crane and service body.
This is a heavy-duty commercial truck platform configured for service, equipment handling and lifting applications. The truck features a substantial service body with an integrated R.O. PJ-200 crane/boom, making this an interesting opportunity for a contractor, farmer, equipment dealer, service company, fabricator or someone looking for a project/service truck.
The truck has been stored inside a shed for a number of years. The seller reports that it was started and running during the recent inspection. The truck was started using a jump pack, and the engine ran. The truck will currently require new batteries, as it shuts off when the jump pack is disconnected.
The engine is believed to be a Detroit Diesel, although the exact engine configuration should be verified by the buyer.
The outriggers were operated and retracted successfully during inspection. One known issue is the driver's-side front outrigger cylinder, which is leaking hydraulic oil. Because of the hydraulic leak and concern that the reservoir level may be low, the crane itself was not operated under load or fully function-tested.
The truck was also not driven or moved during inspection due to the flat driver's-side front tire, dead batteries and the leaking outrigger cylinder. There is no known issue preventing the truck from driving, but that has not been verified.
This is an excellent candidate for someone looking for a heavy-duty service truck project, crane truck, farm service truck, equipment service truck or restoration/repower project.

Comparable 1985 GMC 7000s have been documented with both gasoline and diesel power, manual transmissions, spring suspension and heavy-duty axle configurations.
Exact engine, transmission, axle ratings, GVWR and crane specifications should be verified from the truck and crane identification plates before bidding.
R.O. PJ-200 Crane

Buyers should locate the crane's identification plate and applicable load chart and verify:
Maximum lifting capacity
Maximum boom extension
Rated capacity at various working radii
Hydraulic requirements
Outrigger requirements
Mounting configuration
Crane operating procedures
Do not assume lifting capacity based solely on the model designation or appearance of the crane.
