Description
Hiniker Down Corn Reel – Corn Head Reel – 20" Row Spacing – Adjustable
Description
Up for auction is a Hiniker corn head reel / down corn reel, designed to assist in harvesting lodged, leaning and down corn.
A down corn reel is a valuable harvesting attachment when wind, weather or stalk conditions cause corn to fall over and become difficult for a conventional corn head to gather. The rotating reel fingers help lift and guide downed corn stalks and ears back toward the gathering chains and into the corn head, helping reduce missed ears and field losses.
This Hiniker reel features an adjustable mounting and finger configuration intended to accommodate different corn head applications. The seller states that the unit is configured for 20-inch row spacing, and the adjustable components allow the reel to be adapted to various corn head configurations.
The unit is an excellent piece of harvest-season specialty equipment for a producer who wants to be prepared for down-corn conditions rather than fighting through lodged areas with a standard corn head.

Down Corn Harvesting
Down corn can be one of the most difficult conditions to harvest efficiently. Wind damage, stalk weakness and severe weather can leave ears and stalks lying close to the ground, making it difficult for the standard corn-head snouts and gathering chains to capture the crop.
Finger-reel systems address this problem by using long rotating fingers to lift and guide lodged stalks and ears into the gathering system. The objective is to recover corn that otherwise might be left on the ground or pushed ahead of the head.
These systems are generally intended to be operated at a reduced ground speed in difficult down-corn conditions, but can significantly improve gathering in areas where a conventional corn head struggles.
Adjustable Configuration
One of the desirable features of this type of reel is the ability to adjust the reel and finger positioning to suit the particular corn head and field conditions.
Modern corn-reel systems commonly offer adjustment for:
Row spacing
Finger position
Reel height
Reel fore/aft position
Mounting location
Finger angle
Comparable corn-reel systems are available in configurations ranging from approximately 15" through 40"+ row spacing, demonstrating the broad range of header configurations these types of reels can accommodate.
Buyer is responsible for verifying compatibility with their specific corn head before bidding.
