John Deere Wins Six AE50 Awards From ASABE

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has awarded John Deere six of its AE50 Awards for ingenious new designs in the food and agriculture industry. The organization hands out 50 such awards every year to honor achievements and product innovations that not only make food production safer, but also save time, labor, and expenses.

    “Innovative Spirit”

“Around the globe, John Deere engineers work tirelessly to create exciting new products and technology to benefit our customers,” says the company’s director of production and precision ag, Joel Dawson. "This year's AE50 Awards reaffirms the innovative spirit of our employees and illustrates our company's commitment to bringing those linked to the land the most useful, high-quality products possible."

    The Winning Products

Among John Deere’s AE50 winners is the CommandPro control for 6R Tractors such as the 6145R, 6155R, 6175R, 6195R, and 6215R. The customizable joystick lets you drive and steer with precision, and also control attached implements.

Next, Bale Mobile is an app that hay and forage producers can use to track (among other things) individual bales’ moisture and weight, both for bale sorting and to locate problem areas of the field. The app works with a John Deere L331 or L341 (1 Series) square baler with optional sensors installed, and also supports round baling and remote monitoring.

Deere’s 2660VT Variable-Intensity Tillage tool, meanwhile, is adaptable to spring or fall usage. Its new frame and adjustable gang angle allow it to run at up to 10 mph (16 km/h) while placing the optimal amount of weight on its blades, the company says.

Harvest equipment accounts for Deere’s remaining three AE50 awards this year. A new system of tracks for S-Series Combines (namely the S760, S770, S780, and S790) last longer, offer better traction and ride comfort, and support road transport speeds of almost 25 mph (40 km/h).

In the same S700 Series combines, JDLink Connect telematics technology and the Machine Performance app on the 4600 CommandCenter Display let you use a smartphone app called MyOperations to adjust your machine’s rotor speed and other settings remotely. Out in front of the harvester, the new Deere 700FD HydraFlex Draper header has a dual-position drum to accommodate bushier crops such as canola when needed.
