KUHN Introduces New MM 890 Merge Maxx, Provides Triple-Merger Power In Twin-Merger Size
KUHN has added what it says is the industry’s largest twin hay merger to its hay merger lineup. The new KUHN MM 890 Merge Maxx provides a 30-foot (9-meter) working width via twin pickups, and offers the ability to merge hay to the left, right, or in a 50/50 split to create windrows. The MM 890 also provides KUHN’s IntelliMerge ISOBUS control system and OptiSense belt stall indicator alerts, among other features. KUHN also produces the MM 300, MM 700, and MM 1100/1300 Merge Maxx models.
Twin Powers Activate
Designed for commercial operations and billed as providing triple-merger power in a twin merger class, the MM 890 provides two 15-foot (4.6-meter) individual pickups and conveyors, as well as pickup windguards, adjustable crop nets, six bars of tines, KUHN’s exclusive floating skid shoes, and KUHN’s Constant Float header flotation feature. In transport configuration, the folded MM 890 measures 10.3 feet (3.1 meters) wide, 28.4 feet (8.7 meters) long, and 12 feet (3.7 meters) high.
KUHN says the floating windguard provides “smooth and even windrows” for improved forage harvester efficiency, and the crop netting enhances leaf retention in windrows for enhanced forage quality. Elsewhere, KUHN says the ability to raise the wings independently is especially helpful for opening up fields, merging around obstacles, or cleaning up point rows in irregularly shaped fields.
A Chance To React
Thanks to the MM 890’s IntelliMerge ISOBUS control system, KUHN says operators can expect operational efficiency and ergonomics benefits. The OptiSense belt stall indicator alerts operators when belts on the merger slow down. “This gives the operator a chance to react before the machine plugs, keeping the merger moving across the field for improved productivity,” KUHN says.
