Dig & Finish: Case IH’s New Speed-Tiller Is A Dual-Season Tool
CNH Industrial didn’t waste any time rebranding K-Line Ag (a maker of agricultural implements) equipment after acquiring the Australian brand earlier this month. Top of the list is K-Line Ag’s Speedtiller series, which will be available to North American producers in 2020 as the Case IH Speed-Tiller series. The robust disk tiller, initially designed to handle the harsh soil conditions of Australia, is capable of both managing crop residue in the fall and finishing the field in spring.
Speedy In All Seasons
Case IH’s Speed-Tiller will be available in a rigid-mounted model (the Speed-Tiller 465) and a trailing configuration (the Speed-Tiller 475). During fall tillage, producers can take advantage of the Speed-Tiller’s deep soil penetration—from 3 to 6 inches—to efficiently till crop residue and control weeds. In spring, the Speed-Tiller series can easily adapt for a shallower secondary tillage pass, and producers can select between three conditioner attachments, including the Crumbler roller, a spring conditioner, and a rubber roller.
Durable & Adjustable
Built to work the field at high speeds, the Case IH Speed-Tiller is equipped with five-bolt, heavy-duty disk bearings and 1.25-inch-thick disk arms. The mounts on the heavy-duty disk arms also feature rubber torsions to provide the needed down pressure to penetrate the hardest conditions, while the hydraulically positioned conditioner attachment allows the operator to lift it in muddy conditions. Independently mounted blades are laterally adjustable and work the entire soil profile, according to Case IH, eliminating compacted valleys and humps between where blades run below the surface. For consistent disk depth, the Speed-Tiller features a constant-level hitch that puts usable weight on the blades to run deeper or transitions to roller wheel to optimize tool finish.
