Kuhn North America Adds HR 1030 & HR 1040 Power Harrows To Tillage Equipment Lineup
Kuhn North America has added the new HR 1030 and HR 1040 power harrow series to its tillage equipment family that also includes the previous HR 1004 and HRB 102 and 103 lineups. The HR 1030 and 1040 series both feature an adjustable leveling bar. The 1040 harrows come standard with in-seat hydraulic adjustment support, while the mechanically adjustable 1030 models offer the hydraulic feature as an option. All models include newly designed rotors, a lubed-for-life gear trough that Kuhn says enhances tractor fuel efficiency, and multiple roller options.
A Wide Rotor-Speed Range
The HR 1030 series includes the HR 3030, 3530, 4030, and 4530 models with 10, 12, 14, and 16 rotors, respectively. They have minimum horsepower ratings ranging from 80 to 100 hp and 240- to 270-hp maximum PTO power ratings. All support a maximum 9.8-inch (25-centimeter) working depth via standard 12.4-in. (315-millimeter)-long, 0.63-in. (16-mm)-thick blades. The HR 1040 lineup includes the HR 3040, 3540, and 4040 models with 10, 12, and 14 rotors, respectively. They work up to 10.6 in. (27 cm) deep via hard-coated 13.2-in. (335-mm), 0.7-in. (18-mm)-thick DuraKUHN blades. The 1040-series harrows have minimum power ratings ranging from 90 to 120 hp maximum PTO power ratings from 300 to 320 hp.
Also worth noting are the switchable duplex gears in the harrows’ central gearbox that enable two rotor speeds. Along with a factory set, these include a total of five available gearsets. Kuhn says this means operators can tailor the harrow to the crop and soil conditions but remain at optimal PTO input speed.
A Wealth Of Options
Available options include DuraKARB blades with tines partially constructed of tungsten carbide, quick-hitch brackets, stone deflectors, track eradicators, and anti-wrap bushings. A 21-in. (535-mm) rear MaxiPacker roller comes standard, but you can opt for the 23.2-in. (590-mm)-diameter rear MegaPacker, which Kuhn says reduces power requirements in tougher conditions or a 20.5-in. (520-mm) MaxiCrumbler rear roller aimed at finishing dry soils.
