KUHN Introduces ST-PRO II Row Units For KUHN Krause Gladiator 1210 Strip-Till System
KUHN has introduced a new ST-PRO II strip-till row unit for the KUHN Krause Gladiator 1210 pull-type strip-tillage solution, which also provides precision nutrient placement and seedbed management. The ST-PRO II will be ready for use in spring 2022, complete with a new chain mounting system that lets end links pivot, thus helping to even wear across the entire chain length. Changing chains is also faster as the manufacturer used 50% fewer bolts to secure chains to the reel.
Meet The Gladiator
The Gladiator is available in trailed and mounted 1205/1205M and 1210/1210M models. The pull-type Gladiator 1210 offers 20- to 40-foot (6.1- to 12.2-meter) working widths, and is available in 8-, 12-, and 16-row models with 30-inch (76.2-centimeter) spacing. The system’s frame can carry 9 tons (8.2 metric tons) of dry fertilizer or 1,000 gallons (3,785 liters) of liquid nutrient.
Thanks to use of just two bolts, the ST-PRO II makes it easy to configure the coulter spindle to either 1-degree left, 1-degree right, or 0-degee (straight ahead) positions. A new row unit frame design, meanwhile, will benefit Gladiator 1210 units equipped with a Montag dry fertilizer system by routing air exhaust and fertilizer dust down the shank’s backside into the soil. This helps increase fertilizer retention and reduces equipment corrosion.
Closing The Gaps
The ST-PRO II features wrenchless adjustments and no daily maintenance required. It provides working depths from 6 to 12 in. (15.2 to 30.5 cm) in 1-in (2.5-cm) increments, and operators can place dry, liquid, anhydrous, or a mix of two fertilizers in a strip.
Other features include the Strik’R conditioner reel, which KUHN says earned a good reputation with the previous ST-PRO model for running plug-free in wet soil conditions. KUHN improved the ST-PRO II’s wet soil performance further by closing gaps between the tabs on the reel end plates, thus reducing the odds of mud packing inside the end plates. All of this adds up to a more versatile machine that you can use in a wider array of weather conditions and that is easier to clean.
