Massey Ferguson Brings New Award-Winning MF 8S Tractors Series To North America
Booth 333 at the 2021 Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois, is where you can set eyes on Massey Ferguson’s new MF 8S tractor series from August 31 to September 2. Massey Ferguson parent company AGCO announced North American availability of the award-winning, comparatively lightweight family of tractors in late August. The four-model series includes tractors rated for 205 to 265 horsepower (153 to 198 kilowatts), all of which boast a new “neo-retro” exterior design and cab, Massey Ferguson’s Protect-U engine and cab installation, and numerous connectivity solutions.
An Award Winner
Massey Ferguson used an all-digital “Landing on Earth” virtual event in July 2020 to introduce the MF 8S Series, which includes the MF 8S.205, the MF 8S.225, the MF 8S.245, and the series-topping MF 8S.265, all with a 10-foot (3-meter) wheelbase length. In January, the 265-HP MF 8S.265 Dyna E-Power Exclusive won European Tractor of the Year 2021 honors, and the series won a Red Dot: Production Design 2021 award in the commercial vehicle category in April. Massey Ferguson says seven years went into developing the MF 8S series, and that feedback from operators around the globe aided in the process.
“Massey Ferguson designed this line of tractors to be straightforward and dependable using direct input from farmers,” says Massey Ferguson North America Vice President Darren Parker. “With a spacious cab, less noise and vibration, and better visibility, Massey Ferguson sets up growers for a comfortable yet productive season with less downtime.”
For Your Protection
The MF 8S models employ 7.4-liter Tier 4 Final AGCO Power engines that use Engine Power Management (EPM) technology to provide a 5% power boost and up to 10% fuel savings, as well as lower engine rpms and less noise. The tractors also benefit from Massey Ferguson’s exclusive Protect-U design that puts a 9.4-inch (24-centimeter) gap between the engine and cab. The Protect-U design creates better visibility, comfort, and protection for operators as well as reduced noise and vibrations and better airflow and engine cooling. AGCO says the cab is one of the industry’s quietest at just 68 dB.
More Features
The new cab design also features color-coded controls, a new customizable MF vDisplay that makes machine data accessible from a digital dashboard, and a Datatronic 5 terminal that gives operators easy control of hydraulics, engine, and transmission settings.
Speaking of transmissions, options include a Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission (CVT) and a new dual-clutch Dyna E-Power that delivers smooth shifting and speed changes with no torque interruption and superior power transfer to the ground.
