Kinze Launches New Planters For 2024 Featuring New 5000 Series Row Unit
Kinze Manufacturing recently announced the launch of its new 5900 and 5700 planters, which are equipped with the new 5000 Series row unit. The new planters made their public debut at the 2023 National Farm Machinery Show held in Louisville, Kentucky.
An All-New Row Unit
The cast row unit is designed for planting at speeds up to 12 mph; it has greaseless gauge wheel arms, scraper-equipped shim-less adjustable spoke gauge wheels, maintenance-free double bushing parallel arms, and a durable outside disc opener scraper. The unit also offers several optional features, including residue control, a closing wheel, and fertilizer and seed handling options. The row unit is compatible with coulters, manual row cleaners, and Yetter air-adjustable row cleaners, and has quick lockup-closing wheels to enable testing of depth and seed placement.
“Our new 5000 Series row unit is built to run longer and stronger, while providing increased protection for farmers’ investment,” says Kinze President Susanne Veatch. “It elevates precision and performance to the next level, providing farmers with more planting control and efficiency.”
Kinze’s New Planters
The 5900 and 5700 replace Kinze’s 4905 and 4705 planters. They have the same configurations, are equipped with the Blue Vantage display, and are powered by the Blue Drive electric drive. The 5900 comes in 24-row, 30-inch (76.2-centimeter); 16-row, 30-in.; and 12-row, 30-in. configurations, while the 5700 has 36-row, 20-in. (50.8-cm) and 24-row, 30-in. versions, as well as a 24-row, 20-in. narrow-row planter. The 5700 24R20 has a 40-foot (12.2-meter), three-section frame configuration with front-mounted, high-flotation tires to reduce soil compaction and improve residue flow. It also has a rear-facing transport camera and work lights. The front-fold model has 30 degrees of wing flex for use in high-residue conditions or on rolling terrains and narrow terraces.
