Case IH Announces New AFS Connect Puma Tractors; Existing Models Upgraded
Case IH recently launched the AFS Connect Puma lineup with two new models, the Puma 175 short wheelbase tractor and the high-horsepower Puma 260. The existing 185, 200, 220, and 240 Pumas have all received upgrades in power, technology, and operator environment. The larger 124-gallon (469-liter) fuel tank allows for longer runtimes to increase efficiency. The tractors also have new rear hydraulic remote valves with pressure release levers, updated right-hand steps with an easy-open battery box, and two integrated tool storage compartments.
Enhanced Operator Comfort
The AFS Connect Puma series has a larger cab with increased head and leg room, improved visibility, and upgraded climate control for faster cooling. A larger entryway and redesigned steps ease entry and exit, and operators can adjust the CVXDrive-equipped models’ hydraulic cab suspension using the upgraded AFS Pro 1200 display. Multiple in-cab storage areas have been added for bottles, snacks, and supplies for long days in the field. An optional cooled storage box is also available, as is a 240-degree sweep front wiper for the laminated windshield.
AFS Connect Technology
In the AFS Connect tractor line, the technology is embedded directly into the cab with three system components: the AFS Pro 1200 display, the AFS Vision Pro operating system, and the AFS Vector Pro receiver. The AFS Pro 1200 has a 12.4-inch screen, additional camera feeds, Bluetooth compatibility, and remote display viewing to allow managers to have access at any time. AFS Vision Pro lets operators customize tractor settings across seven run screens and split-screen viewing. The AFS Vector Pro receiver improves guidance and connection signals for consistent, accurate performance.
The Big Cat
The new range-topping Puma 260 comes standard with heavy-duty front and rear axles, giving the tractor a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 31,950 pounds and enabling the use of larger rear tires to aid in the use of large implements and to convey more power to the ground. This higher GVW capacity is an available option on Puma CVXDrive 220 and 240 tractors. The newest Puma in the pack, the 260 is a compact, high-power tractor with 260 HP (300 peak HP) with updates to the transmission, tires, axle, and cooling system.
“The AFS Connect Puma takes what livestock and row crop growers have always loved about Puma tractors—their reliability, efficiency and multipurpose dependability—while increasing their power, comfort, and data connectivity to help operators tackle farm tasks with ease,” says J.E. Cadle, Case IH mid-range tractor marketing manager. “Plus, with integrated AFS Connect technology, farm owners and operators can easily keep track of their fleet on the web or mobile devices, all while adding operating efficiencies like reducing gaps and overlaps in coverage.”
