Terex’s Genie To Launch Lift Connect Telematics For Rental Fleets
Aerial lift manufacturer Genie, a Terex brand, has announced its upcoming Lift Connect telematics program for the rental market. Lift Connect will provide remote machine status information to fleet managers via dashboards and alert notifications with the goal of increasing efficiency and decreasing downtime.
Evolution
Lift Connect builds upon Genie’s prior efforts in the remote machine data field, namely the telematics-ready connector the company released in 2015. That product allowed fleet managers to gather various data from their Genie machinery using their existing telematics systems from different vendors.
“Over time our customers have requested access to more data and information,” said Christine Zeznick, Genie senior product and business development manager, Terex AWP. “Today’s Genie Lift Connect telematics technology has evolved to help rental stores understand the information their machines are providing, enabling them to manage their businesses more efficiently.”
Transparency
In its initial form, Lift Connect will report descriptive information about each connected machine, such as its number of operating hours, its physical location, and the presence of any fault codes. Customers can access this data through the new Genie Lift Connect portal, or continue to use their existing fleet telematics system while incorporating Lift Connect input through a standard API (application programming interface).
“We believe that the more partners in the value chain with access to the machine data, the more efficient the rental industry becomes,” Zeznick said. “We’ve designed the new Genie Lift Connect solution to share more information than other offerings available in the industry.”
The company indicates that it plans to keep adding functionality to Lift Connect over time. For example, Genie says that the data it reports can be used for larger purposes, including failure prediction and prescriptive maintenance.
Availability
Lift Connect is expected to become available in North America in early 2019; in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Russia by mid-2019; and throughout the rest of the world in 2019 or 2020.
