Atlas Copco’s New E-Air Range Of Mobile Electric Air Compressors Offers Low Emissions, Low Noise Levels & High Efficiency Performance
Atlas Copco recently launched the new E-Air series of mobile electric VSD (Variable Speed Drive) air compressors, which offers airflow ratings ranging from 250 to 1,100 cubic feet (7 to 31 cubic meters) per minute. E-Air compressors are designed for use in mining and related applications where air ventilation and low emissions are particularly important. The compressors’ standout feature is their VSD-driven permanent magnet electric motor, which “requires only low power for startup, so there is no need to oversize your power supply,” Atlas Copco explains. Each compressor also has a maximum noise level of 61 decibels, another benefit of going electric.
“From enhanced efficiency to improved noise levels and no diesel engine emissions, the benefits of going electric within specific applications cannot be overstated,” says Hendrik Timmermans, VP Marketing Portable Air Division. “The new Variable Speed Drive electric compressor range is a game changer when it comes to clean drive technology for rough and dusty environments like underground tunneling and mining. We have the experience to protect your investment in these circumstances.”
Three E-Air Models
The E-Air range consists of the VSD E-Air H 250, the VSD E-Air H 450, and the VSD E-Air V 1100. The ‘H’ models have built-in tires, taillights, and couplers for easy towing. Both models also feature HardHat canopies for improved durability and spillage-free frames with 110% fluid containment, allowing them to stand up to harsh worksite conditions. The V1100 stands out not only because it’s the most powerful of the group, but also because in place of tires, it has a multi-drop frame with skid and forklift slots. Atlas Copco adds that “while the electric motors require no servicing, service intervals for the compressor are at a very low level: only once every two years or 2000 hours.”
More On The VSD E-Air H 250
The VSD E-Air H 250 is the smallest model in the E-Air range, weighing in at less than 750 kilograms (1,653.5 pounds), which means that European customers won’t require a special driver’s license to tow it. The new air compressor takes advantage of Atlas Copco’s PACE (Pressure Adjust through Cognitive Electronics) system, which allows operators to adjust pressure to between 5 and 12 bar, depending on the application. It also features a Smart Socket feature that gives you the option of choosing between 16-, 32-, and 63-amp circuits.
