JLG Launches 600 Series High-Capacity HC3 Telescopic Boom Lifts

    Posted On: March 17, 2020

JLG has revealed three new high-capacity versions of its 600 Series of telescopic boom lifts. The 60-foot (18.3-meter) platform height 600AJ HC3 and 600S HC3 units and the 66-foot (20-meter) 660SJ HC3 all offer expanded capability with the same footprint as standard JLG 600 models. The lifts debuted at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG trade show March 10-14 in Las Vegas.

    Onward & Upward

“With the ANSI 92.20 standards set to publish in the near future, we anticipate higher-capacity booms will become increasingly popular,” says JLG’s senior product manager for boom lifts, Bill Dovey. “The load-sensing requirements for all boom lifts will drive the industry towards higher-capacity models in an effort to maximize productivity.” ANSI 92.20-compliant boom lifts like the JLG 600 Series HC3s must automatically limit their operation when the load sensing system indicates that the platform is overloaded.

    Three Capacity Zones

Like the lift chart of a crane with various boom configurations, the 600 Series HC3 units have different lifting capabilities based upon the length of the boom extension and the amount of offset in the articulated members. JLG describes these as three capacity zones. At shorter boom lengths, an HC3 has a restricted capacity of 1,000 pounds (454 kilograms). Dropping down to a restricted capacity of 750 lbs (340 kg) gives the platform roughly 5 more feet (1.52 m) of reach. At full reach—the 600AJ HC3, for example, has a maximum horizontal outreach of 39 ft, 9 in (12.1 m)—an HC3 lift has an unrestricted capacity zone of 660 lbs (300 kg). Each capacity zone can hold three workers, their tools, and materials, JLG says. The new lifts can recalibrate without the need for a half-ton (454-kg) weight in the basket.

Other new features in the HC3 lifts are platform and ground console LED displays that automatically adjust their brightness level per the ambient light conditions.
