“Skid steers since roughly March 2022 have been on a steep incline overall, including both track and wheel skid steers,” says Helman. “Tracked skid steers have become a lot more popular over the last several years, and you can see that by the inventory trend as we've surpassed record levels of skid steers on the market right now.”
“Inventory levels directly affect auction pricing. Auction pricing reacts almost immediately to inventory levels going up or down. Auction values will go in the opposite direction. Auction pricing has been on a downward slide since inventory levels started their upward trend in March of 2022. That gap between auction and retail, at the lowest peak of March of 2022, was about as tight as we've ever seen it historically, and now that gap between retail and auction has widened to a point it hasn't reached in the last decades."
