Mack Trucks Manufactures 100,000th Truck With Integrated GuardDog Connect Telematics
Mack Trucks has announced that it recently produced the 100,000th truck to feature the Mack GuardDog Connect, a telematics system that was first introduced in 2014. GuardDog Connect makes it easier to create predictive maintenance plans, diagnose issues by monitoring fault codes and determining which ones require timely repairs, and send software and parameter updates remotely via Mack Over The Air. GuardDog comes standard on all Mack engines and covers aftertreatment systems and Mack mDRIVE automated manual transmissions. Mack Over The Air is available for free on vehicles with GuardDog Connect as part of the two-year engine warranty, but customers can extend access after the two-year mark.
“From its launch with truck number one to now reaching 100,000 trucks, Mack GuardDog Connect has proven itself to be an incredible tool to protect and maximize our customers’ uptime,” says Jonathan Randall, senior vice president, North American sales and marketing, at Mack Trucks. “We’re proud to have reached this milestone and look forward to continuing to build on our uptime leadership with GuardDog Connect.”
Maximum Uptime
One of the goals of Mack GuardDog Connect is to minimize or outright eliminate downtime by diagnosing truck issues that could result in a loss of productivity if not addressed in the near-term. When the system detects a potential problem, it automatically notifies OneCall agents who are working at the 24/7 Mack Uptime Center, which requires little or no driver involvement. An agent will then look at the notification, diagnose the issue, and decide what to do next. If it warrants a repair, the agent will confirm part availability and set up a service schedule. Customers can follow the entire process through Mack’s ASIST communications platform.
Over The Air
Mack Over The Air works with GuardDog Connect to keep your truck on the road and out of the shop for as long as possible. OneCall agents can schedule software and parameter updates based on your schedule to ensure they aren’t administered during peak hours. Mack Parameter Plus is an optional package that allows for 50 parameter updates per truck each year and includes “changes to road speed limits, idle times, engine performance modes, and more,” Mack says.
